Our commitment

The Service Directory is intended to help veterans and families discover services that support wellbeing, strengthen connection and improve access to trusted support. It will be a dynamic resource that grows and adapts over time as the Agency evolves and deepens its understanding of the veteran ecosystem, community needs and available wellbeing supports. The Service Directory will be refined to reflect emerging services, gaps, feedback and changes in how veterans and families seek support.

Inclusion in the directory does not constitute endorsement by the Australian Government or the Veteran and Family Wellbeing Agency; rather, it helps people understand the support available and make informed choices about the services that may meet their needs.

About the Service Directory

Wellbeing is shaped by many parts of life — our health, relationships, housing, finances, sense of purpose, safety, learning opportunities and connection to community. It can change over time and is influenced by our experiences, circumstances, families and communities.

The Service Directory has been created to help veterans and families of veterans find support that strengthens wellbeing across these different areas of life. It brings together trusted services in one place, making it easier to discover local supports, understand what services offer, and connect with help when it is needed.

The directory is designed as a navigation and information resource. It helps people explore services that support wellbeing, maintain independence, strengthen community connections and build resilience throughout life's different stages, including transition from military to civilian life.

Rather than attempting to list every available service, the directory focuses on services that are most relevant to the wellbeing needs of veterans and families and can help people find the right support more easily.

How we consider which services are included

We focus on wellbeing outcomes – We prioritise services that can make a meaningful difference to the wellbeing of veterans and families.

We keep veterans and families at the centre – Services must support the wellbeing of veterans and families of veterans.

We promote trusted sources of support – We generally include services delivered by government, organisations funded or commissioned by government, and reputable not-for-profit and community-based organisations.

We value accessibility – We seek to include services that are accessible and affordable, helping reduce barriers to support.

We maintain a community-focused approach – The directory is intended to connect people with wellbeing supports and does not generally include private for-profit services unless delivering services on behalf of government.

We maintain a clear wellbeing scope – The directory focuses on services that contribute to wellbeing and community support.

We make decisions through the user’s eyes – Every inclusion decision considers how easy the directory will be to understand and navigate.
