Earlier this week, DVA and the Veteran and Family Wellbeing Agency (the Agency) hosted a two-day Veterans' and Families' Hubs workshop.

The workshop brought together DVA, the Agency and Hub lead organisation representatives from across the country; reinforcing a shared commitment to connecting and strengthening support for veterans and families of veterans. It provided an opportunity for participants to share insights, identify opportunities, common challenges, and explore ways to enhance referral pathways, service navigation and increase community engagement across the veteran wellbeing sector.

Hubs play an important role in connecting veterans and families of veterans with support services in their local communities. Many Hubs across the country offer activities that foster social connection such as coffee catch-ups, family fun days and community events. Hubs may also offer or facilitate access to broader wellbeing support and services such as advocacy, employment and housing advice, and physical and mental health services.

Collaboration between Hub lead organisations, DVA and the Veteran and Family Wellbeing Agency will strengthen referral pathways and improve service navigation; making it easier for veterans and families to understand and access support available to them. By continuing to work together, we will help to ensure that veterans and families have access to the right support and services in their local communities. Encouraging veterans and families to engage with Hubs early helps them access local services, build community connections and increase awareness of available support. This can improve wellbeing outcomes, reduce isolation and enable people to seek assistance before challenges reach crisis point.

There are currently 12 Veterans' and Families' Hubs operating across Australia, with additional Hubs still under establishment in a number of locations across Australia.

Veterans and families can learn more about the support and services available through the Hubs by visiting the Veterans' and Families' Hubs page.
