We’ve co-signed a new Veteran and Family Wellbeing Agency Service Charter (the Charter) with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) and Department of Defence (Defence) to demonstrate our commitment to providing support to serving ADF members, veterans and families of veterans.

The Charter formalises our shared responsibility to improving wellbeing outcomes through providing coordinated, person-centred and preventative support. It provides a framework for how the Veteran and Family Wellbeing Agency, together with DVA and Defence will work in unison to strengthen coordination across the veteran and family wellbeing system by improving access to wellbeing information, navigation and referral pathways.

It reinforces the importance of continuity of support before, during and after transition from the Australian Defence Force. It places a stronger focus on making support easier to navigate and better connected, as well as early intervention and support that considers an individual’s broader wellbeing and family circumstances.

The Charter also establishes arrangements for VFWA performance reporting, evaluation and ongoing review, supporting transparency, accountability and continuous improvement it continues to mature.

The Charter has been signed by the Chief of the Defence Force and the Secretary of DVA in support of the Chief Executive Officer of the Veteran and Family Wellbeing Agency.
