The 2026 NAIDOC week theme is “50 Years of Deadly”. During this week, we want to acknowledge and celebrate the deadly achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men and women who have proudly served in the Australian Defence Force with courage and distinction for generations.
Their contribution is an important part of Australia’s military history and continues to shape a proud legacy that we recognise and honour.
NAIDOC Week is often a time for celebrating excellence, cultural activities and connection with community. It can also be a time of reflection for First Nations veterans and families of veterans who may be away from their family and community, which can be one of the unique challenges experienced during service and after service.
Connection to community is an important part of maintaining positive wellbeing, and NAIDOC week events are a great chance to get involved. Find out what's happening in your community via the official NAIDOC week website.
